Dolgellau

Dolgellau is a small market town at the foot of Cadair Idris, located in the Snowdonia National Park. Dolgellau has a labyrinth of listed buildings that are picture-postcard-perfect in appearance. There are plenty of little nooks and crannies to delight contemporary shoppers such as local galleries, craft and souvenir shops.

Perhaps the area's biggest attraction is its scenery. Dolgellau has a more than enviable location in the heart of southern Snowdonia and offers visitors breath-taking views in which ever direction they look. Dolgellau is also the starting point of the Mawddach Trail walk and cycle route. It travels for 9.5 miles along the disused railway track on the southern edge of the spectacular Mawddach estuary and finishes by crossing the iconic railway bridge over the mouth of the estuary into Barmouth. For more information, go to www.visitmidwales.co.uk

North to Dolgellau on the A470 is Wales' mountain bike Mecca, Coed-y-Brenin forest, which is home to an ever increasing network of fantastic handbuilt all weather singletrack. A range of routes suitable for everyone from families and novices to rocky technical trails for expert riders radiate out from our stunning state of the art eco visitor centre.
